Over billions of people in the world still suffer from safe and adequate water. This crisis has of late become of great concern to many countries in Africa. Despites the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on rural water projects in Africa, poor quality water still remains to threatening the health and livelihoods of millions of vulnerable people. Sierra Leone has two distinct seasons (dry & rainy). The country experiences so much rain in the raining season and so much is being wasted. In the dry season, especially at peak periods, there is lack of potable water, which brings a lot of sufferings to people especially women and children. How far this is realized remains to be seen. Most of the community epidemics are water related. It was on this basis that the research seeks to look into feasibility assessment of community water banks as opportunity for health and hygiene promotion in Sierra Leone. This book will increase your knowledge in the practicability of creating water banks with cost implication, alternative means of accessing safe water and a culturally acceptable means of maintaining and promoting health and sanitation.

The evolution of our institutions of learning, form one-room schoolhouses to the modern educational campuses of today, reflects both the growth of our populace and our shared cultures and traditions. Educational Architecture in Ohio reminds readers of this heritage as author Virginia McCormick comments on the philosophies behind the architectural styles of Ohio´s schools and colleges, libraries and opera houses.Ohio offers an excellent perspective for viewing and interpreting educational architecture. The heritage of its pioneer settlers, the diversity of its immigrants, and its strategic geographic position for westward migration created a history typical of much of America. The state´s educational buildings reflect this rich history and culture.Through architecture we can also follow educational changes and trends. The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries saw dramatic change in concepts about lifelong learning and public access to information. A rising professionalism among educators, architects, and librarians created competing philosophies regarding architectural form and function. However, all reached the consensus that learning environments which inspire excitement among teachers and students reflect communities that support the educational mission.Architectual and educational historians will welcome this well-researched and richly illustrated study. Libraries and historical societies will also find valuable the county-by-county listing of educational properties on the National Register and the timeline of educational highlights.
