Dreams have never adequately been explored within academic Psychology. Subject to biases from a community employing a narrow brand of science geared more toward advancing careers than knowledge, it's time for personologists and phenomenologists inspired by sheer curiosity, clinical data, and personal experience to pursue dreams as detectives would a 137-year-old cold case (i.e., Psychology being founded in 1879). It's time to believe that an unemployed PhD denied a tenure track into the field for which he's been preparing since the age of thirteen can offer something more substantive than the combined publications representing over 100 years of academic Psychology. It is in that spirit that I offer this exploratory work. I hope you enjoy it.

In a stunning literary achievement -- with a power and scope reminiscent of John Steinbeck -- Luis J. Rodriguez captures the soul of a community in this epic novel about love, family, workers' rights, industrial strife, and cultural dislocation As the World War II cultural and industrial boom birthed a new California, a mighty steel industry rose with the potential to make modest dreams real for the workers willing to risk their lives in the mill's ferocious heat. For the Salcidos, the Nazareth mill became an engine for survival. Luis J. Rodriguez chronicles the simultaneous evolutions of this American family and the enormous enterprise that drove them -- from optimistic and cohesive units questing for stability and prosperity to disintegrating entities whose dreams have long since lost their luster.Spanning six decades, the novel conveys the drama, resilience, and humor of working-class life during a little-known era in American history.

The Hope for Audacity

For far too long, public education had been under the shadow of terms such as failing schools, achievement gaps, and poor classroom management. While many publications have outlined these issues, the goal of this book is not to resonate despair but to illuminate our hopes and dreams for public education. For the authors of this book, having the audacity to hope for better public education means trusting teachers and children to engage in intellectual endeavors that advocate for the development of the whole person and active participation in a democratic community. This book will be a great resource for pre-service and in-service teachers, professors, administrators, and policy-makers in exploring a new pathway for educational reform.
